It's been a long time since one of those personal questionnaire thingies appealed to me, but for some reason this one from cindymonkey does.
1. What is the soundtrack for this LJ?
Various cat noises. Chris talking on the phone. People hollering on the street. Helicopters. Occasional gunfire.
2. What's bothering you right now?
Unless you want to spend all night reading this journal, I'd better pick something very immediate and specific ... OK, the fact that some of my fried soybean skins (inarizushi-no-moto) will probably go to waste because I didn't make enough rice to stuff all of them with.
3. Do you close the door when you are sleeping?
No. Our cats wouldn't tolerate that shit.
4. What is in your wallet?
$82 in bills (I'm rich!). Louisiana driver's license. Zoo membership card. Barnes & Noble Readers' Advantage card. Visa card. Office Depot Advantage card. Bank card. Lucky fava bean. St. Joseph medal.
5. Wallpaper on your computer's desktop?
A photo I took of four brown pelicans flying over Shell Beach in late 2005.
6. Background on your cell phone?
An animated cockroach on its back, twitching its legs.
7. Next time you will kiss someone?
When Chris gets home.
8. Where was your default picture taken?
Probably from a helicopter. I added the "WE ARE NOT DEAD" caption myself.
9. Eyes:
Glazed.
10. Life:
Unavoidable for now.
11. House:
Gorgeous.
12. Doing this weekend?
Finally cleaning out the guest bathroom (which has become the repository for everything we didn't know where to put) because my mom is coming to visit next week.
13. Wearing?
Red & orange hippie pants. A black baby T with a cartoon of a leaping, space-helmeted cat. Black rubber & rainbow ribbon flip-flops.
14. Who was the last person to send you a text message?
tjcrowley.
15. If you could have one thing right now what would it be?
One "thing"? Give me a fucking break. Am I supposed to say "No more hunger and disease" or "A good Ethiopian restaurant in New Orleans" or "For William not to be sick" or what? Be more specific about what kind of thing I may have, please.
16. Listening to?
The white noise of the clothes dryer in the other room.
17. Ever kissed someone named John?
Yes, a couple of them even.
18. What do you smell like?
My hands smell of soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, and codfish powder from making the inari sushi. Other than that, I've always thought I smelled faintly of rubber bands and motor oil, though Chris says that is ridiculous. When I perfume myself, I do so with Tea Rose.
19. Eating?
Four of my inari sushi pockets about an hour ago.
20. Favorite thing on your bed:
If Chris isn't there, it depends on which cats are.
21. Do you believe in a soul mate?
Yes, and I hope he's on the bed.
22. What do you wear to bed?
Getting bed-centric here, aren't we? Not a damn thing.
23. Do you remember your dreams?
Often, except when I take Ambien, but they are usually gone or at least tattered beyond recognition five minutes after I wake up.
24. Do you burn easily in the sun?
Like a goddamn suckling pig turning on a spit over a roaring fire.
25. Have you ever been gambling?
Yes. I am not lucky.
26. What's something you wish you could understand better?
Electricity. Then I wouldn't have to spend half my life waiting for asshole repairmen to call.
27. What did you do last weekend?
Took care of Chris the invalid, who'd just had his poor bellybutton sliced open on Friday.
28. Who do you miss?
Nathan, Colm. I've also been badly missing my old Siamese, Nicky, who died a few years ago.
29. Who is the last girl you hugged?
Jeez, I dunno. Maybe my neighbor Shalene when I found out she'd gotten a job.
30. Orange or apple juice?
Neither. The only kind of fruit juices I like are the Latino aguas frescas.
31. Who was the last person you went somewhere with?
At 10:30 last night, I was roused from a pleasant drug stupor and dragged to Sav-A-Center so Chris could purchase a melon baller.
32. What was the last text message you sent?
"FUCK ... o well, we can get it over with earlier."
33. Have you kissed anyone on your friendslist?
If you mean kissed kissed, I think I've done it to three of them.
34. Last time you ate a homegrown tomato?
Not since last summer, but my mother is bringing me some next week.
36. What was the last thing you drank?
Tapwater.
37. Whose house did you go to last night?
Mine. What, was this quiz designed for social butterflies or something?
38. Who was the last person you visited in the hospital?
Chris had his hernia surgery in an outpatient clinic ... so I guess it was my friend Kenneth, who had his gall bladder removed a couple of weeks before the storm.
39. Do you like someone right now?
Yes, and love him too.
40. What do you wear more, slacks, jeans, or sweatpants?
Jeans. I did buy a cute pair of green sweatpants recently, but they're a little bit prone to camel toe.
41. What is the last movie you watched? With who?
I can't remember, because I never watch them ... probably Blue Velvet, by myself, at least four months ago (I know we were still in the apartment).
42. Name 3 drinks you regularly drink:
Water, DIet Coke, young coconut juice. (At the risk of destroying my image, I must admit I've been drinking so little that I can't honestly put Wild Turkey on the list, though that could change at any time.)
43. What are you excited about?
Not a whole hell of a lot, to tell you the truth. And that right there is probably at the root of 90% of my problems.
44. Do you want someone you can't have?
Not in any serious way.
45. Who was last to slap your butt?
Chris, of course. Before that, maybe faustfatale -- I haven't seen her in a couple of years (which sucks), but when I do, she usually slaps my butt and says, "Look at that can!" admiringly. (Christa likes big asses.)
46. Where was the last place you went?
The Green Parrot Nursery on Tchoupitoulas to buy three bags of pine straw mulch.
47. What's on your mind right now?
The Dreaming. Having just received the last two copies I needed from womzilla (thanks, brother!), I'm rereading the whole series and enjoying it.
48. Have you cried recently?
No, I'm trying to cut down. I cried about William a lot the first week we knew he was sick, but now I'm attempting to dwell on the fact that he is still here and doesn't like me dripping tears all over him.
49. When you think of your crush, who is it?
Chris. I don't have the energy to lust after celebrities and/or random pretty creatures these days.
50. Is taking a shower a daily habit?
It really, really should be, but unfortunately, it's more like every other or even every third day. (Unless I've been working in the yard, in which case I can't stand myself unless I jump in the shower right away.)
